Happy Halloween

Lucia, Elliott, and Mazie were our little love bugs for Halloween. Lucia, the ladybug. Elliott, the spider (fider). Mazie, the butterfly.
We dressed up three times over the long Halloween weekend. A party at school. Trick-or-Treating. Festival at one of the local churches.

We the three are with some cute bottles are friend Miss Pat made for us. They each have a different Halloween scene on them. We displayed them on our buffet for the weeks leading up to Halloween.
We hope your Halloween was sweet.

Fall Festival

We had a fun weekend celebrating homecoming in our town recently. It was H's 20 year HS reunion so we went to the game and had a great time.
LEM loved two things the most about the game: the fire that the band played with and the paper banner that the football team ran through. They are still talking about both.
The next day we went to a local fall festival. We are very proud of our H because she was in charge of the festival. The organization is trying to raise money for local schools. We had a great turn out and everyone seemed to have a good time. We think H and her cohorts did an excellent job.
The cake walk was our favorite activity. We really racked up, too. Each child won a cake and they thought it was just about the greatest thing to ever happen to them when they were handed that big ol' cake.

Mazie was the only one who wanted to get her face painted. She opted for a lady bug and a flower.
We had a great time and are so proud of our Mama Bee for all her hard work.

Poem #15

Dream Deferred
by Langston Hughes

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
and then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sag
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Poem #14

Why I Wake Early
by Mary Oliver

Hello, sun in my face.
Hello, you who make the morning
and spread it over the fields
and into the faces of the tulips
and the nodding morning glories,
and into the windows of, even, the
miserable and the crotchety--

Best preacher that ever was,
dear star, that just happens
to be where you are in the universe
to keep us from ever-darkness,
to ease us with warm touching,
to hold us in the great hands of light--
good morning, good morning, good morning

Watch now how I start the day
in happiness, in kindness.

Beach Picture Bingo

Here are some pictures from the day we went to the big beach. The light was so pretty that day, the weather perfect. I snapped over a hundred pictures in those two hours. Here are some of my favorites.
